Bournemouth 1 - Man City 2: Sterling delivers at the death to sink battling Cherries

Bournemouth 1 - Man City 2: Sterling delivers at the death to sink battling Cherries

Just seconds after grabbing  a dramatic stoppage time winner yesterday he was shown a second yellow card and  sent off for celebrating with his ecstatic fans.

It was a sensational end to a pulsating sunshine match Sterling and co deserved to win, even though brave battling Bournemouth pushed them all the way..

Sterling, whose late equaliser won City a point against Everton last Monday, will feel hard done by. But rules are rules and the pitch incursion his celebration sparked left referee Mike Dean with little choice but to see red.

Manager Pep Guardiola was left bemused by it, though.

The City boss said: "I don't understand why this happened. Now he (Sterling) won't be able to play against Liverpool next Saturday and with Kyle (Walker) it is our second sending off in a week.

"Why can't we celebrate with our fans? Do we play without fans, then? If Bournemouth had scored wouldn't hey have celebrated with their fans?"

One thing Guardiola accepted he could do nothing about was the wonder goal to which City fell behind. Wow really is the only word to describe Bournemouth's first ever Premier League goal in 11 tries against Manchester City, and their first this season.
